Block Websites Without Any Software

 In your office or home you have to block some websites. Using this steps, you can block any website without any softwares... 


  •  Open: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
  • Find the file named as "hosts"
  • Open it in notepad
  • Under "127.0.0.1 localhost"   Add 127.0.0.2 www.sitenameyouwantblock.com (without  # symbol) , and that site will no longer be accessible. 
  • File -> Save .
    
   For every site after that you want to add, just add "1" to the last number in the internal ip (127.0.0.2) and then the addy like before.  

  Examples:  
            127.0.0.1 localhost
            127.0.0.2 www.google.com
            127.0.0.3 www.yahoo.com
            127.0.0.4 www.ask.com

     -Now these sites are blocked from your computer.

Format Symbian Phone Completely

   Symbian is a mobile operating system (OS) and computing platform designed for smartphones and currently maintained by Nokia  (Eg:Nokia 6060,7610,6600, all N series, all E series etc). Many peoples are still using Nokia Symbian OS around the World . In case of virus infection or other problem we have to format our mobile phone. In Java mobiles, there is option for format completely. But in case of Symbian we have to adopt a special method to format completely. 





  • Move all data from your phone into a memory card including messages and contacts ( Because all data will lose after completing format).
  • Remove your memory card safely.
  • Switch off your mobile phone.
  • Press 3 , *  and call button simultaneously
  • Switch on your mobile phone ( Don't leave buttons until switch on )
  • Now your phone's OS is same as a fresh Symbian OS.


     NB: Keep your phone from virus infection.. So you have to  install a anti-virus.

  Now many versions of windows operating systems are available. But millions of peoples are still using windows XP. Also they are using many Disc Defragmentation softwares of speed up their XP. Since defragging the disk won't do much to improve Windows XP performance, If you are using windows XP, here are some suggestions that will enhance your system performance sure..

  • To decrease a system's boot time and increase system performance, use the money you save by not buying defragmentation software -- the built-in Windows defragmenter works just fine -- and instead equip the computer with an Ultra-133 or Serial ATA hard drive with 8-MB cache buffer.
  • If a PC has less than 512 MB of RAM, add more memory. This is a relatively inexpensive and easy upgrade that can dramatically improve system performance.
  • Ensure that Windows XP is utilizing the NTFS file system. If you're not sure, here's how to check: First, double-click the My Computer icon, right-click on the C: Drive, then select Properties. Next, examine the File System type; if it says FAT32, then back-up any important data. Next, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the prompt, type CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS and press the Enter key. This process may take a while; it's important that the computer be uninterrupted and virus-free. The file system used by the bootable drive will be either FAT32 or NTFS. I highly recommend NTFS for its superior security, reliability, and efficiency with larger disk drives.
  • Disable file indexing. The indexing service extracts information from documents and other files on the hard drive and creates a "searchable keyword index." As you can imagine, this process can be quite taxing on any system.The idea is that the user can search for a word, phrase, or property inside a document, should they have hundreds or thousands of documents and not know the file name of the document they want.

10 Fast and Free Security Enhancements 
      Before you spend a dime on security, there are many precautions you can take that will protect you against the most common threats.


  •  Check Windows Update and Office Update regularly:  (http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates); have your Office CD ready. Windows Me, 2000,  XP, Vista and window 7 users can configure automatic updates. Click on the Automatic Updates tab in the System control panel and choose the appropriate options.             (Don't try to update if you are using cracked windows versions)


  •  Install a free spyware blocker: Our Editors' Choice ("Spyware," April 22) was Spy Bot Search & Destroy (http://security.kolla.de). SpyBot is also paranoid and ruthless in hunting out tracking cookies.
  • Block pop-up spam messages: In Windows NT, 2000, or XP by disabling the Windows Messenger service (this is unrelated to the instant messaging program). Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools-> Services and you'll see Messenger. Right-click and go to Properties. Set Start-up Type to Disabled and press the Stop button. Bye-bye, spam pop-ups! Any good firewall will also stop them.
  • Use strong passwords and change them periodically: Passwords should have at least seven characters; use letters and numbers and have at least one symbol. A decent example would be f8izKro@l. This will make it much harder for anyone to gain access to your accounts.
  • Use the current version of Outlook: If you're using Outlook or Outlook Express, use the current version or one with the Outlook Security Update installed. The update and current versions patch numerous vulnerabilities.

Types of Viruses

A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer. The term "virus" is also commonly but erroneously used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have the reproductive ability. A true virus can spread from one computer to another (in some form of executable code) when its host is taken to the target computer; for instance because a user sent it over a network or the Internet, or carried it on a removable medium such as a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB drive.




The different types of viruses are as follows......


  • Boot Sector Virus :- Boot sector viruses infect either the master boot record of the hard disk or the floppy drive. The boot record program responsible for the booting of operating system is replaced by the virus. The virus either copies the master boot program to another part of the hard disk or overwrites it. They infect a computer when it boots up or when it accesses the infected floppy disk in the floppy drive. i.e. Once a system is infected with a boot-sector virus, any non-write-protected disk accessed by this system will become infected.Examples of boot- sector viruses are 'Michelangelo' and 'Stoned'.
  •  File or Program Viruses :- Some files/programs, when executed, load the virus in the memory and perform predefined functions to infect the system. They infect program files with extensions like .EXE, .COM, .BIN, .DRV and .SYS .Some common file viruses are Sunday, Cascade.


  •  Multipartite Viruses :- A multipartite virus is a computer virus that infects multiple different target platforms, and remains recursively infective in each target. It attempts to attack both the boot sector and the executable, or programs, files at the same time. When the virus attaches to the boot sector, it will in turn affect the system’s files, and when the virus attaches to the files, it will in turn infect the boot sector.This type of virus can re-infect a system over and over again if all parts of the virus are not eradicated. 'Ghost ball' was the first multipartite virus, discovered by Fridrik Skulason in October 1989.Other examples are Invader, Flip, etc.


  • Stealth Viruses :- These viruses are stealthy in nature means it uses various methods for hiding themselves to avoid detection. They sometimes remove themselves from the memory temporarily to avoid detection by antivirus. They are somewhat difficult to detect. When an antivirus program tries to detect the virus, the stealth virus feeds the antivirus program a clean image of the file or boot sector.


  • Polymorphic Viruses :- Polymorphic viruses have the ability to mutate implying that they change the viral code known as the signature each time they spread or infect. Thus an antivirus program which is scanning for specific virus codes unable to detect it's presence.


  • Macro Viruses :- A macro virus is a computer virus that "infects" a Microsoft Word or similar application and causes a sequence of actions to be performed automatically when the application is started or something else triggers it. Macro viruses tend to be surprising but relatively harmless.A macro virus is often spread as an e-mail virus. Well-known examples are Concept Virus and Melissa Worm.
